Taking cues from local architecture and the buildings cherished past the was designed by Walker Warner Architects to create a bridge between two different eras. The exterior of the house and its overall silhouette mimic the form of a classic residence that is all too common in this part of California.
The central idea behind the design conjured up by KEM STUDIO was to create a relaxing and nature-centric hub that allows the homeowners to leave behind their hectic urban life. It is essentially a house that has the aura of a ‘serene second home’!
Designed by Takashi Okuno to meet the specific needs of a young couple this Japanese home draws its inspiration from simpler structures of the past that were visually connected with the landscape around them. Dubbed ‘‘ this open inviting and light-filled house adopts a more traditional silhouette and yet surprises you with its gorgeous free-flowing interiors.
A picturesque backdrop that is enriched by Lake Michigan and a tranquil setting that allows the modern residence in the foreground to steal the show – this in Leelanau County Michigan has plenty going for it! Designed by Desai Chia Architecture in collaborating with this dramatic contemporary residence instantly grabs your attention with the 20-foot-long cantilevered upper level and a charred wood exterior that dubbed ‘shou sugi ban’.
The fabulous showcases one such beautiful transformation as an old and dark three-story townhouse was turned into a light-filled inviting home by Elizabeth Roberts Architecture and Design. The new loft-like interior combines industrial elements with contemporary sheen to deliver the best of both worlds.
