Existing building constraints meant that the street façade of the house was left completely untouched while a modern living area kitchen and dining were added to the rear. Connecting the rear garden smaller inner courtyard and barbecue zone with the living space the revitalized interior is filled with a flood of natural light.
Finding a new way to insulate the unique roof of the house that keeps out tropical heat and training local workers to adapt to new construction techniques were the two biggest challenges that architects faced during the execution of the project. The result though is a cost-effective practical and inventive dwelling that makes life for its residents a whole lot easier!
Attempting to correct this anomaly and bringing a pocket of vibrant green to the sprawling cityscape of Vietnam is the gorgeous designed by VTN Architects. Part of a creative initiative dubbed ‘House for Trees’ by the eco-friendly folk at VTN this exquisite green house has been crafted using terrazzo glass and concrete.
Color is rarely seen here with a neutral palette industrial style lighting minimal bedrooms and the of glass and wood partitions shaping a smart space-savvy interior. A makeover that respects the old even while embracing the new!
Another distinctive trait of the house is the way in which the new internal walls and partitions sit some way away from the concrete beams and the niche between the two is illuminated using smart accent lighting. This creates a cheerful and well-kit atmosphere even as the living area flows into kitchen and dining space next to it.
